Welcome to the Florida Association of the Deaf!
UPDATE!!!!
How does the process work?
A Senate bill progresses through several key steps before becoming law. First, it's introduced and referred to the relevant committees for review and potential amendments. If approved by committees, it moves to the full Senate for a vote, where it needs a majority to pass. If passed by the Senate, it's sent to the House of Representatives for their review and vote. Finally, if both chambers approve the bill in identical form, it's sent to the Governor for signature, making it law.
We are still making outstanding progress with the Modernization of Telecommunications Access Systems Act (TASA) of 1991 legislative bill. First, SB 344 passed in the Senate side, including three committees and the full Senate floor. The bill passed unanimously in all Senate Committees and Senate floor. Secondly, HB 435 passed in both the subcommittee and the Commerce committees.
This morning (Tuesday, April 29), HB 435 and/or SB 344 will be placed on the agenda for vote after a Special Order. Since the Full House vote starts at 10:30 am, we anticipate the bill being introduced to vote around noon, as it is number 7 on the House agenda. You could watch it via live stream by Google search for the Florida House of Representatives. Look for a schedule or live stream that you can watch live.
We are excited as we reach the end of our collaborative efforts to make the Modernization of TASA happen!
